Gay life in Chicago

Chicago, the largest U.S. city after New York and Los Angeles is famous for its towering skyscrapers that make it distinctively modern city: A city that has managed to juggle between urban construction and green with many parks in within the city center.

Chicago has a gay and lesbian community as large as that which can be expected. There are two main neighborhoods in Chicago gay. The first is north of Lakeview Halsted Street between Belmont Avenue and Grace Street. Here is the "Boys'Town" where are concentrated most gay establishments: posh restaurants or ethnic, vintage clothing shops, theaters and musicalls. The gay area is second city in Anderson Clark Street between Lawrence and North Foster Avenue.

Chicago is bursting with activity! All days are organized concerts, plays, etc. ... but musicall of the city also has a rich musical heritage: Blues, jazz and country. The period of festivity is intense! It begins with the Memorial Day weekend and the election of Mr. Leather International. Then comes Gay Pride last weekend in June, which usually begins at the intersection of Halsted Street and Belmont Street and ends at Lincoln Park, the largest public park in Chicago.
